Before & After School Care

-->

Why Is Student Care So Critical

Student Care (another name for Before & After School Care) programs keep our children safe and provide them with much needed, supervised, structured activity. Studies in the West have proven time and again that children in student care programs:
  • Are less likely to become victims of crime,

  • Have improved school attendance and do their homework more often and better,

  • Show improvement in their grades and attitudes about learning,

  • Learn to respect people who are different from themselves and develop better conflict resolution and social skills.

Benefits of Our Program

  • We improve children’s grades and attitudes about learning because they have a safe, relaxed atmosphere in which to work,

  • We lessen the worries of parents who cannot be with their children before & after school,

  • We give children an opportunity to make new friends and build relationships with caring mentors and adults.

  • For the SS2 Centre, we are the nearest centre to SJKC Puay Chai, safety & hassle free transport for your child.

“For millions of children, ‘Home Alone’ is not a funny movie, but rather the way they spend their time after school and during the summer. It is during these hours that our children face the greatest risk of violence and other threats, but it is during these hours that they have the greatest chance to learn, grow and find the hero within.”

--Hillary Clinton

Pre-school, Kindergarten & Childcare

Our Believes

We believed and are committed in:
Helping families who are trying to raise English-Mandarin bilingual children as well as those who want their children to begin the journey of acquiring a second language at an early age by offering high quality, developmentally appropriate programs.
Learning through play. Children are given ample opportunities to socialize with other children and take an active part in meaningful and enjoyable learning experience.
Child oriented rather than content oriented programs, geared to child’s development needs, interests and enjoyment. This will result in the children feeling more relaxed and able to enjoy learning experiences at their own pace.
Providing opportunities for children to develop basic learning and social skills, good habits, and to acquire basic concepts and language fluency. Helping them develop school readiness skills, emphasizing the “process” rather than the “product” at this early stage.

Core Curriculum

Toddler

Glenn Doman’s Flash Card
Children love to learn to read at a very early age. Glenn Doman’s method of teaching the very young, which turns learning into games, has received praises from parents, teachers, doctors and psychologists alike.

Book Read Aloud
Children who are read to develop their language better. We read stories from a variety of books to help build child’s imaginations. They love Three Little Pigs and other Hans C. Anderson series, of course!

Hands-On Math
Our hands-on math period begins with a read aloud poem or book that reinforces the math concept that we're working on that day. We engage in a hands-on game or activity in small groups, whole class or in math learning stations.

Pre-school and Kindergarten

Mandarin and Bahasa Malaysia
These subjects are aimed to provide a sound foundation for future Primary School students. “Pre-school Chinese Language Reading Scheme” is used as text for Chinese study. Materials and books are regularly updated.

Montessori Mathematics
We are equipped with Montessori materials and apparatus that are directed to help in the development of mathematics. Dr. Montessori demonstrated that if a child has access to mathematical equipment in his early year, he can easily and joyfully assimilate many facts and skills of arithmetic.

Phonics Program
Phonics provides a logical principle that makes learning to read easier. Children learn to use this principle to read rather than just repeat parrot-fashion or to take a wild guess. They will be taught to read independently by sounding the letters or syllables in words.

Ladybird Key Words Reading Scheme
Research shows that reading skill is accelerated if these important words are learned early and in a pleasant way. This established British reading scheme embraces not only the latest findings in word frequency, but also the natural interests and activities of happy children.

All Groups

The Creative Curriculum
Our centre’s learning environment is primarily based on The Creative Curriculumâ, in use in high-quality early education settings throughout the United States, Canada and Australia. The program is designed for optimum comprehensive individual development at the child’s natural pace. In the program, children optimize their emerging physical, sensory-motor, perceptual, cognitive, and social skills.

Thematic Interest Activity
This portion of our day is always tons of fun and very exciting for the children, because it's devoted mainly to teaching more about our thematic unit of study through art, movement or music. We also always begin this block with a thematic read aloud. The children love getting messy with art projects, which are their favorite!

Learning Corners
Every day children have the opportunity to participate in a variety of learning corners, which include the book corner, art corner, home-keeping corner, science and exploration center, block corner, puppet center, computer corner, toy corner and sand table. While students are working in their corners, teacher engages in personalized guided reading activities with individual student.

Art and Craft
Your child will experience art through the creative freedom of touching, feeling, pulling, twisting, tearing, pasting, bending, scraping, cutting, pounding, shaping, and working with a variety of art media. By allowing your child the freedom to explore creativity through art, they will be developing a feel for forms, balance, line, color, and shape as well as learning valuable problem solving skills. In the art learning center, your child will be learning about various relationships, developing observation skills, and learning the process and skills of logical thinking. Another very important part of using art as a learning tool is helping your child to develop and refine their motor skills through hands on experience.

Dramatic Play/ Practical Life
Dramatic play will let your child use dress-up clothing, props and child-sized furniture that we offer to invite children to play make believe, stimulating their creativity and social skills. In these sessions, your child will try new careers, learn sharing skills, make friends and express themselves in a variety of different emotions. Dramatic play sessions will also teach your child valuable life skills like turning knobs, pressing buttons, using switches and buttoning and zipping clothing.

Music Children will have the opportunity to use their entire bodies for learning and exploring in the music circle. Music helps your child to build awareness by listening and learning to recognizing many kinds of sounds, and also will help children to experience the release and freedom that body movement can offer. We will encourage your child to test and experiment with their vocal and kinesthetic abilities, allowing them to have fun while learning the enjoyment of participation.

Blocks This area will teach your child hand-to-eye coordination, help them to develop and build upon their motor skills involving hand, wrist and finger control, and also allow them to explore their problem solving skills through a trial and error process. Stacking and counting the blocks helps them learn measurement, size, weight and number concepts in a fun and challenging way.
